Ohio Roofer Electrocuted While Carrying Ladder

Saybrook Township, Ohio– A roofer was electrocuted on Thursday afternoon, August 30, while carrying a ladder. The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. in the 6400 block of Lake Road West, according to local firefighters. Saybrook Township Fire Chief John Jyurovat reported that the man, an employee of a roofing company, was on-site completing a job when the accident happened. As he was carrying an aluminum ladder upright, trying to maneuver around a tree, he inadvertently came into contact with a low-hanging, live wire carrying 7,620 volts. The man was immediately transported to Ashtabula Medical Center by firefighters and later airlifted to a trauma center for further treatment, Jyurovat said. As of 4pm Friday, the chief confirmed that the roofer remains hospitalized but is in stable condition and doing well.
