MAYWOOD, NJ — A tragic roofing accident in Maywood, New Jersey, left one worker dead and another critically injured on the evening of Wednesday, April 23. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Maywood Avenue, where a roofing crew had been working. According to Maywood Police Chief Terence R. Kenny, authorities received a 911 call around 6 p.m. reporting that two individuals had fallen from the roof.

Upon arrival, police found that one of the workers had suffered a serious head injury. Officers immediately began CPR on the individual, but despite their efforts, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The second worker sustained critical injuries and was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition as of Wednesday night.

Chief Kenny confirmed that both victims were male, though their identities have not yet been released. He added Thursday morning that the surviving worker is expected to recover. No foul play is suspected in the incident, which appears to have been a tragic workplace accident.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. After completing their review, the site was cleared, and work was permitted to resume. Chief Kenny stated that no further investigation is anticipated at this time.
