For the crews on the ground, this wasn’t just a big job; it was a three-year masterclass in what happens when you mix automotive design with heavy-duty civil engineering in 104°F desert heat. Here is the breakdown of the design, the materials, and the sheer scale that details this massive roofing project.

The Backbone: The World’s Biggest Space Frame
Before a single panel of aluminum was laid, the team had to build a skeleton capable of spanning nearly 2,300 feet from tip to tip. They used a MERO KK space frame system, which is essentially a massive geometric web of interlocking steel struts and nodes.

The installation was a grind. Groups of 30 to 50 workers had to work around the clock, often pulling night shifts just to escape the daytime heat while they rolled out the membranes.
Walking on the Legend: The Roof Walk Experience
For those who want to see the craftsmanship up close, Ferrari World actually lets people walk on the roof. The “Roof Walk” is a guided 90-minute experience that takes visitors across 1,968 feet of that iconic red aluminum.
It is the ultimate “roof inspection” for the general public. Visitors are strapped into a full body harness and clipped into a safety system as they walk 164 feet above sea level. The highlight of the trek is standing right next to the world’s largest Ferrari logo. It’s 213 feet long and 157 feet wide, making it a massive landmark even from the sky.
The Finish: Rosso Corsa
Finally, there’s the color. That iconic “Rosso Corsa” (racing red) isn’t just any paint. The technicians developed a lead-free, high-performance enamel system to ensure the color wouldn’t fade or “blanch” under high UV radiation and sand abrasion.
