Fire Destroys ABC Supply Building in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. — Authorities are currently investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed a commercial building in Pawtucket on Thanksgiving. The blaze occurred at ABC Supply Co. Inc. on Beverage Hill Avenue, with firefighters responding to the scene around 2:30 p.m. The flames were initially spotted at the back of the building, quickly spreading and generating thick plumes of smoke that could be seen from miles away.

Battalion Chief David Cairrao stated that the fire is believed to have started outside the building, although the precise point of origin has yet to be determined. The situation was further complicated by the collapse of a two-story structure adjacent to the building, which allowed the fire to penetrate the interior. Cairrao explained that the building contained highly flammable materials, resulting in the rapid spread of the flames. Firefighters faced challenges extinguishing the fire due to the packed nature of the building, making it difficult to discern the exact extent of the blaze.

Fortunately, no individuals were reported inside the building during the incident, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation.
