Huntley, Illinois– A roofing worker is in critical condition after falling from the roof of a two-story home Thursday morning in unincorporated McHenry County, just outside Huntley, Illinois.
Emergency crews from the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the incident around 7:50 a.m. in the 15000 block of Lerita Drive after receiving reports of a serious fall. Upon arrival, first responders found a male worker with life-threatening injuries sustained in the fall from the second-story roof of a residential home.
The injured man was part of a roofing crew performing work on the property at the time of the accident, according to Battalion Chief Michael Pierce of the Huntley Fire Protection District.
After an initial on-scene medical assessment, emergency personnel transported the man to Northwestern Huntley Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, a REACT Medical Helicopter was dispatched to the hospital’s helipad, where the patient was then airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford for advanced trauma care.
As of now, the identity of the worker has not been released, and no further details about his condition have been made public.
Authorities have not yet released information on whether an investigation is underway or if workplace safety violations may have contributed to the fall.
