CLINTON, CT– A roofer died on Monday morning after falling from the roof of a home in Clinton, Connecticut.
According to police, the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department was called to a home on Fox Hill Drive at 8:21 a.m. after a worker fell off the roof and suffered serious injuries.
Authorities closed off the area with caution tape, and the road in front of the residence was closed.
According to reports, the 37-year-old worker sustained severe injuries from the fall.
Despite life-saving efforts by emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sgt. Spencer Mangs from Clinton police said, “Anytime there’s a family in a tragedy like this there is always a family grieving who has lot of questions and that is our job as a police department to answer those questions and provide them with whatever comfort they may need during this time of sorrow.”
The roofing company had been hired by the homeowners to replace their roof. It is reported that subcontractors were helping perform the work for the roofing company.
Both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating the incident.
Update: The roofer who fell and died has been identified as Angel Lema, 37, of Danbury, and was also the owner of AGL General Construction LLC.
